Angel Fish Eggs

I bought a bunch of Angelfish last year hoping to get a breeding pair. We have had a lot of live births and thought it would be interesting to raise some of these. Well it seems we did get a pair! Our white angel laid eggs on the filter tube on Friday night. Unfortunately they were eaten by Saturday morning. From what I read it is common for her to eat her first few spawns. We have now placed a smooth removable object in the tank so hopefully after the male fertilizes them we can remove it and hatch some babies. It may be another 2 weeks to a month before they spawn again.

New Parking Area

I've given the kids an area of the yard everyday to rake and clean. Last week Kaleb asked if I would like a stump removed under the deck. He did it rather quick. So Saturday was a yard work day. He asked me where I wanted him to start right away in the morning. I mentioned the two stumps in the front yard. Well when he started this stump was just a small way out of the ground. It did not want to be removed! So after 5 hours of digging and cutting they decided to cut it and bury it. It did not even want to be cut. Steve said it was like cutting metal. Garrett and I had already started on the other one. Thankfully it had already started to rot so it came out with a little less resistance. So now we need to save some money (after getting a new renter who will pay the rent) to get a load or two of gravel and a fence extension and then we can will have an extended parking area! Yes, I will buy Kaleb a belt and shirt before buying the gravel. Garrett and Kaleb do not want any pats on the back for their hard work, they are both sunburned pretty bad. I kept Seth in the shade all day but for 30 min and his little face has a nice reddish glow even with lotion....Thank you to Lyle and Kathy W. for lending us their tractor! We would still be digging if we had not had it for the day.

New Grill

Well a few weeks ago we had to run to LaCrosse for Steve's Doctor appointment. Our grill has been very used and it was due time for a replacement. Steve found one he liked but after getting groceries we just could not fit it in the truck. So when Saturday rolled around I suggested we go grill shopping. This is the big guy Steve picked out, super sized for our super sized family. No more, "You have to wait for the second batch to cook." I had to move it on the deck because it did not fit where the old one was. It is stainless inside and out. The boys thought the pork chops tasted better on the new grill.

Wrestling Banquet

We had our Wrestling banquet on Sunday afternoon. Levi had the most wins and most pins for his age group. Garrett had 2nd place, missed by one, for most pins. Garrett was in the 600 club and Levi was in the 700 point club. Kaleb was once again a coach. Garrett won the Eagle trophy for Good Sportsmanship at the Mauston Tournament.

Annika

Dave & Casey stopped by on Saturday for a few minutes.

Leopard Gecko

Another one of our creatures (beside the kids) is Mr. Siemers. He is named after a close family friend, who loves to pick on Garrett. He is a leopard Gecko. He belongs to Garrett. Garrett worked very hard to prove that he could care for him and saved up for a long time to buy all the supplies to care for him. When it came time to buy the gecko he had run out of money. He decided to take the supplies home and save up some more. One of the employees came by and asked him what he was looking for. He explained that after buying all the supplies he ran out of money. She told him to wait one minute. She came back with this full grown leopard gecko. he told her once again, he could not afford a baby ($35) none the less an adult ($70+) She told him someone had dropped him off and said to find him a good home and she thought he should go home with us. So she put him in a box, marked it free and off we went. He has lived with us for going on 3 years now. Garrett even raises his own grub worms to feed him.

Sunrise Service

Kaleb gave the message after the skits and music.

Resurrection Sunday Morning

Here is our wonderful tribe! Shelby had asked me all week when she would get to wear her new dress. I was telling pastor about it at a dinner we were at with them on Saturday night and he commented that he could not wait to see the boy's ties. I always make them ties to match, except this year... I felt so bad that I had to go home after dinner and make them ties before going to bed. Steven had a long tie to match Shelby's dress and my skirt. Shelby wanted a picture to show that we matched and Steve just could not get a handle on how to use the camera. If you click on the picture it should be larger. All of the ties are different, they get to pick out their own design. Shelby's purse is reversible to match the top or skirt part of her dress.

Fish

I promised the kids I would post the fish to show their brother and sister-in-law some of our new fish. They are harder to photograph than the kids. Yes, the kids sit better than fish! I will post the kids on Resurrection Sunday in their spiffy clothes (and Garrett on crutches). Kaleb is preaching for the Sunrise services so hopefully I can get it video taped and posted also.
