Seth Galesville

Seth, it seems, is being punished for being so small. If he weighed more than the other kids they would not have to wrestling him. So why does he always have to wrestle kids so much bigger than him? Take a look at the pictures. The other kids tower over him. The last match Steve had the ref call. The other little boy must of thought it was football and not wrestling. He loved to just run and tackle. He would let him up and charge again. Steve felt Seth was just getting hurt so he told the ref to stop the match. I uploaded just a clip towards the end.

Well, today we had an extra child. Garrett's best friend Myles is spending the weekend with us while his father went to watch the high school regionals. The weight brackets were all screwed up at his match. It seemed that the weights did not matter. Garrett and Myles were 7 lbs apart and ended up wrestling each other. Levi was injured in his second match (uploading video) so he forfeited his last two matches and ended up in last place.

Garrett - 1st Place
Myles - 2nd Place
Levi - Last Place
Seth - Non-competitive place (we tell him first :) )
Shelby - Official bracket holder

Coach Kaleb Poynette

So I have been forgetting a very important part of our wrestling, Coach Kaleb. Since it was his birthday yesterday, I thought it fitting to post a couple of pictures of him. He spends his day running from mat to mat coaching the kids all day long. He goes in twice a week for practices, both age groups for 3 hours. The kids love working with him and he loves coaching them. In the first picture behind Kaleb is one of his best friends, Heath and his dad, another coach.

Garrett got new socks last week. Do they not "fit" him? He did pretty good today. 3 pins = 3 wins. So far he is undefeated and has not been bracketed against any girls, so no forced forfeits. One of the pictures are Garrett with a couple of his friends, Heath & Myles after his match.

Kaleb told Garrett not to pin this match right away. He said he needed practice with his moves and to make it go at least into the second round. Even though I appreciate a fast pin (gets me home faster) he obeyed his coach...

Check out those new wrestling shoes! I finally found a place where I could order them small enough. When Steve opened the box he was so sure they were too small. He actually even has a little growing room. Seth still wears a size 9.5-10 shoe. Sethy did wrestle 3 matches but only two got pictures. My photographer (Steven) watched Garrett's match and ran up to get Seth (his match was right after Garrett's) and put the camera down and forgot to pick it up. At least he remembered the wrestler. :)

Seth did very well and, as you can see, almost pinned right away. He is determined!!! He did loose his tempter in the end and was scolded by the ref. I showed him the video and explained to him what he did that was wrong. Hopefully this will never be an issue again.

I'll start you here while the videos are uploading. Levi took the day off and went to the Winter Carnival at Camp Chetek.

Garrett's WestField

I posted this short video to show a move Garrett makes. Unfortunately for his opponent, it pulled his shoulder too much and he left shortly after this video ended.

Here is a full match of Garrett's

Levi took the pictures of Garrett. They had the older boys in another gym. Steve sat with Seth and I ran back and forth. I had to video so Levi took the pictures. If you look in the 2nd match the man in yellow is the father of the 3rd match. While Garrett was wrestling his first match the man turned to his son and said "You're going to get hurt!", right after Garrett did his Alligator Roll. The other boys could not believe that Garrett was only a 6th grader. They were 7th graders.
